The Biennale of Contemporary African Art, Dak’Art 2012 will take place in Dakar, Senegal from 11 May until 10 June 2012

For those of you who did not believe - this picture is for real!!! - except for the number plates.

It was taken while I was in a car going to St Louis, Senegal and I just happen to have my camera on me and couldn't believe it when the car with the goats riding on top passed us. I was lucky to get such a close picture. And it is definitely one of the memorable pictures I have taken.

Hey, if goats can take a risky ride, why can't we.....we never know where we may end up!!!!! Something to think about for 2011.

CONFESSIONAL BOWL invites you to take a peek at what people have written about Sherwood, Nottingham (UK) as well as add their own personal opinions in the white porcelain bowl. Many people did not mind being photographed, so I am grateful that I was able to capture some very animated poses and interesting interactions when people were writing on the inside and outside of the bowl. Confession or Confessing? This bowl will be fired at a later date, to be shown, at another exhibition!

Reason ...

When someone is in your life for a reason, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spirtually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are, they are there for the reason you need them to be. THEN, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand. What we must realise is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on. NEXT

A season ...

When people come into you life for a season, it is because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelieveable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! but only for a season...Your seasonal relationship will end at the divinely appointed time. When that time comes, there is nothing you can say or do to make it work. There is no one you can blame you cannot fix it. You cannot explain it. The harder you clutch, the worse it will feel ...the only thing you can do is let go.

Title Guns Teasing Suicide

Sokari Douglas-Camp's sculptures are resonance of a woman’s voice and affirmation of a political struggle that echoes through her country of birth. Their spiritual presence of strong West African Women protesting against the injustices of man, not excluding the West’s appropriation of oil, leaving behind a painful background of oil flares burning in the delta regions of Nigeria; consequently destroying its environment and its community. This is not only a Nigerian experience but an experience throughout Africa, which in turn affects the world, but is often ignored. The fact that Douglas-Camp’s sculptures are a testament to Saro-Wiwa’s fight, a series of documentaries on Ken Saro-Wiwa, Fela Kuti, his son Femi Kuti and expressions by artists gave an important perspective into a political disturbance that is ongoing. This exhibition shows powerful and intricately worked metal sculptures.
